The Norfolk Broads Ultra 2023
1st & 2nd July 2023
(Non-Stop Saturday 1st July)
The race Start/Finish and HQ is at Ferrygate Camping in broads village of Martham – so, after a long session on the water, you’ll have around 200m to walk back to your tent or van either to get ready for the next day, or to put your feet up after the Non-Stop..!
The Norfolk Broads Ultra is the only Ultra distance paddle event on the Norfolk Broads and is the big brother to The Paddle Skedaddle ‘point-to point’ 27km race which takes part earlier in the year.
The Norfolk Broads Ultra is now the ‘almost famous’ and premier paddle event on the Norfolk Broads which is a 2 day or Non-Stop 80km paddle challenge for SUP, Kayak, SurfSki, OC1 and Prone.
Both days are approx 43km for day 1 and 35km in distance for day 2 – or if you’re really up for a challenge (and possibly a little ‘different’) then 78km all in the same day for the Non-Stop paddlers – (Non-Stop paddlers will paddle the on the Sunday of the weekend).
This is classed as a flat water race on the quieter rivers and waterways of the beautiful Norfolk Broads, with the majority of the course having flow but quite a weak one, but this flow of course has sometimes its evil brother called ‘wind..!’ – who will quite happily give you something to think about whilst you’re out there having fun!
All of the route is 100% paddlable and there are no portages throughout the course – so it’s paddle paddle paddle…!
Water safety cover present throughout, event snacks, water at all checkpoints, with the option for you to have ‘personal special needs bags’ to be transported for you at specified checkpoints throughout the entire course.
All pre-registered participants will receive a 100% ethically printed in the UK, Organic & Vegan Cotton Norfolk Broads Ultra shirt, printed with 100% water-based inks – making it a shirt you’ll be proud to wear – plus locally sourced and handcrafted finishers memento and winners trophies.
